Marie Medosi is an FEI dressage rider, trainer and international musical freestyle composer. She is based out of the Palms Equestrian Center, in San Marcos, CA and manages the 5 star facility as well. As a rider and trainer, Marie prioritizes the basics, to allow for a systematic ascent through the levels of dressage. She emphasizes the importance of training on and off the horse, to ensure that her program focuses on horsemanship, as well as in-the-saddle training. Marie believes that position and technique are of primary importance in the scale of training.
Marie grew up on the island of O’ahu, where she gained as much horse experience as she could, experimenting in several different styles of riding, including Jumping, Eventing, Western Pleasure, Barrels and Poles, Dressage, and even Women’s Polo. She competed in both Jumpers and Dressage, until dedicating her focus to solely dressage. By the age of seventeen, Marie had the opportunity to attend the International Academy for Equestrian Studies (IAES) in Warendorf, Germany, thanks to a grant provided by the Hawaii Dressage Society. Supplementing the tools she developed at the school, Marie moved to British Columbia to train with Henk and Lori Glijn, where she developed her knowledge of handling and riding stallions and young horses through the techniques of Piet Oothout.
In 2006, Marie ventured to Southern California to deepen her knowledge and skills under the guidance of Sue Blinks, Christine Traurig, Guenter Seidel, Morten Thompsen, Johann Hinnemann, Allen Clarke, Niki Clarke and others. She has enjoyed many successes while developing her training business, Medosi Dressage, as well as her freestyle company RaveHorse Productions. Today, Marie’s businesses are thriving, with many horses and students of all levels at The Palms Equestrian Center. She has composed Musical Freestyles for many top international riders including Stefen Peters (including the "RaveHorse" viral clip, Anna Buffini, Sabine Schut Kery, & Rebecca Rigdon. She consistently continues her education with the sport’s top trainers and specializes in starting and developing challenging and young horse's through the levels.
